Fonthill, ON – August 25th, 2022 – For the sixth consecutive year, B4 Power has given one Niagara woman a head start in STEM education. B4 Power, a Not-For-Profit charitable organization founded by the owners of B4 Networks, Bryan and Amanda Lachapelle, was created to encourage young women to pursue their passion in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics).

“Being a minority in the STEM field, I notice how often there is a lack of women in tech and how they are constantly overlooked,” said recipient Aliyah Qayum. “Therefore, I want to disrupt the industry, make it more inclusive, and further encourage other women like me to get involved.”

Qayum will be studying Engineering at McMaster University this fall and hopes to become a software developer upon graduation. “I love how there is always room to grow and learn something new,” she said.

Interested in applying for the 2023 bursary? B4 Power’s four (4) requirements include:

  1. She must identify as female;
  2. She must be from the Niagara Region;
  3. She must be graduating from High School in June 2023 and;
  4. She must be accepted and attending a Post-Secondary Institution in September 2023 studying in a STEM field.
