Fonthill, Ont. – July 3rd, 2025 – For nearly a decade, B4 Power’s “Women in STEM” bursary has sent graduating women of Niagara to their dream schools. This year’s winner plans to focus her efforts on Computer Science.
B4 Power is a Not-For-Profit charitable organization founded by the owners of B4 Networks, Amanda and Bryan Lachapelle, which was created to encourage young women to pursue their passion in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). Celine Maglinao, a student at Saint Michael Catholic High School, stood out for her impressive 85% academic average, compelling personal journey, and demonstrated leadership - all driven by a strong commitment to using technology to create a more ethical and inclusive world. As a first-generation Filipino-Canadian and one of the few women in her high school computer science class, she has faced adversity with determination and grace, mentoring peers and contributing to school life through clubs like Tech Crew, Crochet Club, and Music Class.
"I want to be the representation I once needed,” Celine wrote in her application. “[The bursary will] allow me to focus on learning and building; not just for myself, but for others.” Her dream is to become a Human-Computer Interaction Researcher or Security Engineer, using technology to empower users and improve their digital health and wellness.
“Celine is exactly the kind of student this bursary was designed to support,” said Amanda Lachapelle. “Her vision for the future of technology is compassionate, thoughtful, and inspiring. We’re honoured to be part of her journey.”
Maglinao will be studying Computer Science (Honours Co-op) at Western University this fall.
