Fonthill, Ont. – June, 26th, 2026 – B4 Networks is proud to announce the recipient of its 10th annual “Women in STEM” Bursary, celebrating a decade of supporting young women pursuing post-secondary education in science, technology, engineering, and math.
The B4 Power "Women in STEM" Bursary was created in 2017 to help address gender gaps in STEM fields by supporting young women as they pursue careers in male-dominated roles. Since its inception, the bursary has helped Niagara students take the next step toward achieving their academic and professional goals. This year's recipient, Sophie Diab, was selected from a competitive group of more than 30 applicants. Her outstanding academic achievements, leadership within her school and community, and passion for STEM made her a standout candidate.
One of the qualities that impressed the B4 Power board was Sophie's ambitious vision for the future.
“Ever since I was little, my dream job would be to go to space for research," says Diab. "I am completely fascinated by the idea of making a difference for life on earth through space research, and I am so excited to be making another step towards my goal!”
Diab credits her family for encouraging her to pursue opportunities in traditionally male-dominated fields.
"Since we have a family of all sisters, my parents have always drilled into us to never be intimidated by male dominated fields," she says. "Whether it was sports or academics, they always pushed us to do our best and know that anything a guy can do, we can do as well."
Sophie will be studying Engineering at Western University this fall.
